History

The Crocels Trolling Academy was founded in Swansea in the Autumn of 2011 by Jonathan Bishop of Glamorgan Blended Learning Ltd, which has since been renamed, Crocels CMG CYF. Based at Swansea University’s Institute of Life Sciences at the time, the Trolling Academy has been at the forefront of Internet trolling research and education for many years.

Swansea University was a fitting location for the Trolling Academy. Within only 6 months of the Trolling Academy being founded at the Institute of Life Sciences, where Crocels CMG CYF was based, stories hit the newspapers and news websites about Swansea University student Liam Stacey posting racist remarks on Twitter. Founder of the Trolling Academy Jonathan Bishop gave interviews near Swansea University to ITV News and also to BBC Radio Wales about the episode.
